Good governance is a theory developed as a result of dysfunctionality of previous development systems. The idea is to reform governments, and in general, bureaucratic and political structures, so that they contain the least possible corruption and internal defects that usually weaken management and political bodies. Being introduced recently as a new managerial approach with concepts such as more responsiveness in the governmental system, rule of law, justice seeking, partnership, effectiveness, and efficiency, this theory has raised significant debates and motivated many thinkers to conduct research and comment about it, and therefore, has become one of the most important and attractive concepts in social sciences, especially government management. This study aimed to examine the compatibility of this idea and the current governance system in the Islamic Republic and Velayat-e-Faqih ideology before investigating the complementary contributions and values of the idea in solidifying the Velayat-e-Faqih theory and realization of the new Islamic civilization. The main question is how the good governance theory can serve the realization of the new Islamic civilization. In the first glance, concepts and components of the good governance theory appear to be compatible with the values of the Islamic Republic system, and thus, they can be used to create a more efficient and healthier system. Finally, the paper investigated the legal potentials of the Islamic Republic for accepting and implementing the good governance idea. The research method consisted of a deductive study based on the good governance model and an inductive study based on the covert potentials of the Islamic Republic System.
